Benefits of Solar Panels on Your Home

Adding residential solar panels to your property presents many environmental and financial advantages. From reducing your electric bill to minimizing your dependence on grid energy, here’s how you can potentially benefit from solar panels on your home:

Reduce Your Electric Bill

Installing solar for your home could potentially reduce your electric bill by allowing you to source your own energy directly from the sun. Because you’re essentially creating your own power, solar could lower the amount of power you purchase from utility companies and help you save thousands in electrical costs over the lifespan of your panel array.

Own Your Power

Residential solar allows you to source your energy right from the sun and convert it into usable power that you own, 24/7, 365. No longer will you need to rent all of your power from the grid, instead your solar system will work for you to provide access to clean energy, as well as help you avoid the full impact of unexpected rate increases from the utility companies.

Protection for Power Outages

Solar panels with a FranklinWH battery backup help you and your family avoid the negative impacts of unexpected grid complications that come with traditional energy because panels generate power from the sun and then you can store excess energy in your battery backup. When you only rent your power from the electrical company, you’re always at the mercy of a potential outage at any moment.

Modernize Your Curb Appeal

We use Premium-made solar panels with an all-black, modern aesthetic to mesh seamlessly with your roof. Built to endure everything from strong winds and rain to extreme temperatures and snowstorms, your panels will not only look great – they’ll perform through nearly any weather, in any climate.

The Most Efficient Era of Solar Panels Yet

Solar panels become more sophisticated every year. In fact, modern technology has ushered in the most efficient era of solar panels the world has ever seen. These new panels convert at an astonishing rate of 21-22%, which not only allows them to generate more energy for your home – it also helps you potentially save more money!

More efficiency and lower production costs paint a bright future for solar energy. According to a 2019 report conducted by the International Energy Agency, solar power could potentially make up 60% of new renewable-based power capacity across the globe within the next five years.

Simply put, solar is here to stay because it works. Request a free quote today to see how it can work for you.

Potentially Increase Your Property’s Value

Homes with solar energy systems have higher property values than non-solar homes, according to a 2015 study from the Lawrence Berkeley Research Laboratory. From the same study, there’s evidence that they also sell faster than non-solar ones. As more homebuyers become more interested in the benefits of solar, demand for properties with solar panels will continue to grow.

Today, when homeowners are looking to make home improvements, solar energy is often on the top of their lists. While you’re living in your house, you may enjoy lower electricity bills. When you decide to sell your home, you may enjoy an increased property value that will be a fantastic return on investment from going solar.

Protect Your Family Against Rising Energy Costs

Utility prices keep rising. Power rates for residential customers in the U.S. have risen nearly 60 percent since 2000. Utility rates will continue their upward trajectory as the cost of fuel for power plants rises. Also, the billions of dollars it will cost to clean up the coal ash problem will be passed on to all of us.

One of the advantages of solar energy is that you can help protect yourself against variable electricity costs. Overall, going solar helps you have a more consistent financial forecast and better manage your utility expenses.

How Does Net Metering Work?

Net metering works to send any extra energy that your solar panel system produces back to the power grid, and you are credited for that energy at a 1 to 1 ratio (you get to sell it at the same price you buy it). Those credits can be used on future electric bills. Note that some utility companies do not offer net metering. Overall, this is a great incentive for solar energy use.

How Does Solar Energy Work?

A Step-By-Step Guide:

photo-part-of-a-team

Step 1: Sunlight Activates Panels and Cells Produce Electrical Current
Sunlight hits the layers of your solar panels, and photons and electrons interact to create an electrical current.

Step 2: The Electrical Energy is Converted
The electrical current flows from the panels down to your solar inverter, which converts the energy generated from your panels (DC) into usable energy for your home (AC).

Step 3: The Converted Electricity Powers Your Home
The AC energy flows from the inverter into your breaker box, which will then circulate it throughout your home.

Step 4: Unused Energy is Stored or Potentially Returned for an Energy Bill Credit
Any unused AC will flow back to your utility meter and remain available for consumption. In certain states, homeowners have the ability to return that unused AC back to the electric grid in the form of energy credits on their next power bill. This process is known as net metering in electricity generation.

It Is A Renewable Energy

Solar energy is a renewable source of energy that we can use as long as the sun exists, making it a long-term energy alternative. By harnessing the power of the sun through solar panels, we can reduce our dependence on other countries for nonrenewable energy sources to produce electricity. Solar energy is a consistent power source that can even be used in remote locations.

Even the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recommends homeowners switch to renewable energy sources to reduce their carbon footprint on the planet and protect the environment for future generations.

Solar Makes You Eco-Friendly

For those looking for ways to minimize their carbon footprints, solar energy is the way to go. As a clean alternative for fossil fuels, solar power is reliable, non-polluting and an amazing renewable source of energy. Solar energy does not pollute the air by releasing greenhouse gases, eliminating the damage to the environment.

Solar, wind, and hydropower are the future sources of energy for our country, our economy and our environment. Wind turbines are efficient. However, they need wide-open spaces without windbreaks to perform best and are approximately 10 times the cost of a solar system. Hydro is very efficient, but most of us don’t have a river in our backyard. However, most of us do have the sun on our roofs.

What Is A FranklinWH Battery Backup?

FranklinWH battery backup systems store any unused power from your solar panels for later use. When you experience an outage, you can leverage the stored power in your battery to keep portions of your home running. Keep reading to learn more about the benefits of investing in a FranklinWH battery backup with your solar panel system.

Benefits Of A FranklinWh Battery Backup System

FranklinWH batteries offer cutting-edge solutions to common issues, such as power outages. Here are some of the ways a battery backup can impact your home:

Power portions of your home during outages.

Potentially save money on your electric bills.

Potentially reduce your dependence on the power grid.

Customize the battery settings to meet your specific consumption needs.

How Solar Panels Work

Solar panels work by letting photons from the sun’s rays knock electrons free from atoms inside of photovoltaic cells (pv cells) to generate a flow of electricity. Each panel is composed of many solar cells linked together (typically 60 or 72). Each cell contains a positive and negative layer that combine to form an electrical field in which energy is created.

Phosphorus inside the top silicon layer creates the negative charge, while boron in the bottom layer provides the positive charge. The two fields interact with one another to turn the sun’s rays into the energy that flows from your panels to your inverter.
